  I have eaten at Mel's a few times. This last time our server was very nice, extremely attentive. She brought coffee around a few times, very polite. Plenty of parking one way in one way out of lot. The food was really good. I asked for crispy hash browns. I got them & they were crunchy all the way through. Most Restaurants only do top part then rest is all mush. Which I really dislike when they do that. If I wanted mush hash browns I would ask for that. But, they we're done as I asked. The prices were reasonable nothing that would make you go. For those prices all go somewhere else. Not the case at all. Hope this helps I would recommend this diner.

  AVOID THIS PLACE.
  
  My family of four (2 kids and parents), dined here last Saturday morning for breakfast. It was awful.
  
  Ambiance- honestly, I didn't even have a second to take that in. They do have jukeboxes on each table. I was too busy trying to get back to quarter it stole from my kids and rushing them to the bathroom to wash up from touching the machine. It was disgusting
  
  Service: Mediocre. Subpar.
  
  Food: quality was awful. I literally took three bites and pushed my plate away. The waitress was so disconnected she didn't even notice I hadn't eaten when she took my plate away. Taste, quality, it was all bad.
  
  Cost: my little family of four cost $70 to eat at this dennys.. oh I mean Mel's. Never ever again.
  
  This place needs a good cleaning. The creases of the booths have food stuck in them. The Windows and sills are dirty and have been for a while.
  
  Head back to Sacramento or keep going to Tahoe, nothing to see at Mels.
